Boost sensor is plugged into the throttle body, one torx stud and gently pull out. Would be good to clean the throttle body out too, it gets pretty gunked up.

have also cleaned boost sensor? - is this located above the egr to the right? - it was dirty so cleaned up.

also have looked at maf sensor - on air intake after filter? - very clean so left alone.

will take it out for a run and see what happens.

roswell - where is the crankshaft speed sensor located? is it easy to replace?

    cheers

the spanner light stayed of for a couple of weeks.

however it has started coming back on occaisionally.

when the spanner light comes on, if I switch of the engine and re-start the spanner light stays of - so it must be an electrical fault!?

    any ideas?

    I have an intermittent problem.

After my car has been running for about an hour, the spanner light comes on and I have no/little acceleration - which can be a bit embarrassing when trying to overtake in the outside lane of the motorway!!

The engine management light does not come on - pulling over to the hard shoulder and turning the engine off/on sometimes clears the problem.

I have briefly checked the hoses from the turbo for leaks.

Any ideas? - dont want to take it to the stealers!!

    Cheers

i have cleaned the erg - could you move the valve part by hand ? mine wouldn't move.

is the valve normally closed and then opens up during operation?

when i did mine on my dti i took the bottom on the egr case careful though because the clips can brake, then moved the valve with a screw driver by turning the bottom of it.then put some oil on the piston so it moved freely

also the turbo pipes are common on these have you checked for any splits ?

have solved the problem. after cleaning the egr, maf etc and checked the vac system the spanner light went out.

but the eml then came on and the engine would not rev above 2800rpm !

took it to my friendly garage who plugged in their diagnostic tool and told me it was an egr fault.

couldn't find a second hand egr so paid for a new egr valve £230

fitted it and all ok now..... for the time being!!!

must say though it has been a really reliable car apart from this problem.
