Angry Silverstone GP Parking Fine Help

I was at Silverstone yesterday and every car was ushered into the big fields to park so i followed suit. I came back to my car at the end of the day to find that i had a parking fine on the window, strange to see but looking around 1 in 3 had them aswell. Now there was no mention of payment by marshals, no signs and no paying stations anywhere. I drove over to a marshal at on the way out and asked were we where meant to pay and how come we had not been advised of this he just thrust a bit of paper in my hand and looked away

Basically it says that i was to call a number and pay over the phone a fee of £30 to park for the day and if not i would be fined £60 (£30 if i pay within 14days).

It seems like this should of been given to us before we got into the car park

It seems that there was a few issues in 2009 but has anyone advise on these at all? I plan on emailing them today (strange there is no number to call them) but seems a big con to me!

I have been told to ignore it but i wasnt in my car as its being repaired but i was in a courtesy car and dont want them to pay it and come after me.

    Any advise?

    Ticket below -

    Kev

i was there on the 9th aswell tho

ive called Silverstone and they have told me i need to email all my details in to them at feedback@silverstone.co.uk regards the issue but apparently there was a big sign saying you had to pay at the EXIT of the car park.................... I never spotted a thing TBH and i was looking for somewhere to pay as was my mrs!

Think im not going to bother emailing as i dont want them to have all my details etc as at the moment they dont have anything on me what so ever.

clamping is becoming VERY hard to do now.

    I wouldn't pay it.

I would call them up and ask for the photographic evidence, wardens around our area take pics of the FPN on the windscreen to show that they have stuck it in place and that if you do say that there was nothing there upon return they can challenge it

They can't do diddly squat as it's a private "car park". Covered a few times now. Just ignore it.

http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108231 here is the thread I started for a similar situation. TBH if it's a courtesy car that should work in your favour even more as if they've got any experience they'll just fob them off straight away or pass your details on.

If they do get your details you'll get more and more threatening letters with all sorts of talk of court and jail and stuff. Then they'll just leave you alone. Ignore it. Don't get in touch or give details etc etc. Don't admit to being the driver. Just ignore.

It was all over the TV a few months ago on watchdog etc. One big money making rip off with no legal standing as such.

Yep, as Jimbo says just ignore it. Have a look at the Pepipoo site if you're really interested in getting up to speed on what they can and can't do about it. The main advice is to ignore all demands for information or money and if it all gets too annoying threaten them that continued harassment will result in action against them. They'll eventually pack it in.
