    Default cdti breath

Before I get a remap next month im looking to help the CDTI to breath better.

Are there any other mods that you can do other than the Air Box Mod???

I've put a pipercross air filter in mine at the same time I had it remapped. I've had the car over 4 years now, and it's running better than ever.

don't bother with open cone filter induction, if you want to improve the breathing either buy a decent high flow panel filter or replace the lot for an enclosed high flow induction kit... simota, bmc etc...

Watching this thread, and you want the engine to breath better?

Personally I would cease looking at the airbox, unless you plan to fit a K&N panel filter or similar.

If you are going for a remap, are you planning on getting the EGR valve disabled? It will help engine response at lower rpms. Downside is that it increase exhaust gas temperature, with the potential of taking out the turbo - yet there haven't been any turbo failures in the CDTI's yet afaik.

I have blanked the valve off and removed the throttle plate alongside the airbox mod, do I notice a difference? I do a bit but I have to say not much.

Airbox mods tbh are in the head I think, yes some have drilled holes in them and noticed a difference but I'm not sure the benefits are there to be had by all.

As for making the engine breath better there isn't much you can do and tbh more air doesn't really affect diesels like petrols. All it will do is relieve some horse power but even that has a limit.
    Insignia VX-Line Nav CDTI 170.
