new car woes

I bought a 53 plate 2.0 dti on friday and every thing seemed fine, it started from cold and when warm with no smoke, it pulled like a train through all of the gears and is a lovely drive. problem is when i started her the next morning there was the sound of something rubbing from the left side of the engine near the front, it's like a high pitch "whi whi whi" sound! it sounds like it goes faster when the revs rise but cannot be sure, the only plus is that and disappears after a mile or so down the road. but still a worry! another thing ive noticed is that if the engine revs up to fast it get very noisy bordering on a rattle!? don't know if thats normal cos this is the first diesel i've owned? i could be just getting paranoid but im worried its a lemon and cos it was a private sale it could leave me out of pocket!

could it be a broken coil spring going whi whi whi as it rubs against the tyre ?

or a slipping / squeeling belt ?

Sounds like the drive belt.

yes same here i would say a belt sounds like it might be a bit tight for it to go once car is warm

thanks for the reply's guys im gonna have a look at the car today! is the drive belt the one that goes to the alternator n stuff?
