Default Does the Army take anybody?

Im stunned, in shock, angry, scared, annoyed, flabbergasted, etc etc etc ..

My son has decided to quit college, not going back in september for second year and to finish course, says he found his IT course boring, says he's joining the army .. I didnt know he'd quit college and that he'd already been to army recruitment office, had an interview or summat, apparently waiting on a date for selection thingie.. I dunno, I found it hard to listen what he was saying, my head was spinning..

Are the Army good at not taking on people or will they give anybody a go.. I dont want him to join the army.. I just dont.. arrrgggg..

I hope this doesnt come across wrong to you but he's what, 17 or 18. unfortunately they have a mind of their own and all we can do is advise. feel for you but not a lot can be done and it is and honourable thing, could be a lot worse you know...

sorry if this sounds brutal but theres nothing wrong with the army!!!! its a stable income every month for me and my family i dont have to worry about where my next pay packet is going to come form. my dad was the same he didnt want me to join the army but i did and its the best thing i have ever done and now hes proud of what i have achieved for the time that i have been in. The life style is just fantastic and the friends you make are life long. At the end of the day its his life not yours just be happy for what he wants to do..

They will let pretty much anyone join as there are so many leaving now.

Knowing quite a few in the forces they have said how low the standard of people are they are letting in.

Young people are ideal as they can control you a lot quicker as you dont have as much life experience.

They certainly do,they took me back in 1975 after being in the army cadet force for 2 years previous, stuck it for 1 year only though, owing to me not being able to take the bull**** discipline, although it was out of the frying pan into the fire for me......?where did i end up.....fill in the missing answer..........
