As part of my upcoming work on the car I'm planning on changing the coolant. To drain and flush the engine properly, it is recognised that you have to remove the thermostat because when the engine is cold it blocks off the radiator. Could you fool the valve into opening purely by applying a 12v supply to it? I've done the same with the EGR valve to test it, but is the thermostat just as simple?

Someone with TIS should be able to find out I hope...
