Default What mod's do you recommend on a 2.2 DTI to ensure good running?

As with the CDTI, a good mod on that is the airbox, 3rd injector, etc, etc.

So on the 2.2 DTI, what mod's can you do to protect the engine and bits, economy mods and also performace.

I doubt that I will put a tuning box to it as im used to the 2.2 DTI performance, so what do you think?

You can do the air box mod on the 2.2dti as well.

If you want to pre-empt (spelling?) any issues then the vacuum pipes are always worth swapping over to the silicone ones off ebay. £6 for 3 Meters of 2mm ID.

Also keep an eye on the inter cooler hoses (especially the top ones) as they get eaten from the inside by oil vapour from the turbo. These can also be replaced with silicone ones from ebay (£60 each for moulded ones or make your own like I did).

For making the engine running smoothly I run 250ml 2stroke oil with a full tank of fuel. Quientens the engine down alot.

Clean the EGR and Boost Sensors every 6/12 months or so.

You could remove and block the vacuum pipe that opens and closes the butterfly in the Inlet manifold elbow (some call it a throttle body). This helps with low down accleration but as its an anti-judder device you will notice a bigger judder when you switch the engine off. I tried it but was worried about the engine mounts when it juddered so I re-enabled it. Some people though have completely removed the butterfly!

Thats all I can think of for now!

As above... replace vac & boost hoses for good quality, clean up the egr, boost sensor, inlet elbow & even the manifold if you're ok with it.
Use a high flow panel filter & use millers or similar to keep the fuel pump lubed up nicely.

Im going back to my Saab days, but im sure its the same on the Vec. If you park nose up on a hill the fuel flows back and takes ages to start. There are various fixes that saab owners do, including 1 way valves etc. But there is a genuine vx / Saab fix. However I cant remember it. Im sure someone more helpful will tell you more.
