    Default steering rack arms

    hi guys,
mate of mine just changes my brakes for me.i asked him to check the ball joints cos the mot is on the weekend. he said theres play in the streeing rack arms but its a garage job cos hes never changed them.
been quoted £110 for both sides if the gaters are still in good condition.
anyone know if this is cheap/expensive/avarage?

I paid £100 back in march for both of mine to be done. Just make sure the £110 includes tracking, as it will need it.

thats not a bad price but to be honest if your mate can change brakes he should be able to do inner tie rods

all he has to do is

    undo track rod end
undo steering gaitor clip at steering rack end
when he does this he will see a ball with a nut shape on it
unscrew this nut shape and the inner tie rod and track rod end will come out
remove track rod end from inner tie rod , counting the turns it takes to unscrew it

    remove tie rod gaitor
fit gaitor to new tie rod
screw on locking nut from track rod end then screw on track rod end ( best to replace these aswell saves a job later on ) the same amount of turns it took to take it off

screw inner tie rod back onto steering rack
    fill gaitor with grease
    re attech gaitor
    re attach track rod end
    get tracking sorted

    job done
