my dti is very noisey very noticeable on take over and at 3k rev's , its like a tickity clatirey noise could it possible be a timming chain tensioner or guide
i have checked for blow out's etc.its been like this for months i have even changed the oil to 10w40 and tried 2 stroke with no difference what so ever , it really sounds like a tractor and is a bit annoying when you hit traffic when in a town out for a sunday drive

You sure its def the engine? one of things you should maybe check is the exhaust line? might be a small crack and when you go over the 3000rpm its blowing the gas threw one of the lines

Not to panick you mate but get it checked asap. Sounds like one of the symptoms of a cracked crankshaft. Better to check now that for the crank to go altogether and do major damage

Ah ours should of cracked twice now already

Change the fuel filter mate and give it a good service. My mate had a similar problem on his Vec B 2.0DTi and it turned out to be a blown gasket on the inlet manifold. It ran like a dream after he got that changed.

You may joke but there have been three instances of broken crankshafts on here this year. two 2.0dtis and one 2.2dti. It's not much hassle to check but it's alot of hassle if you go changing fuel filters and then the crankshaft breaks

It's the bottom gasket my mate got changed (under the swirl flaps). No signs of a blow out, but sounded extremely tappy under load especially once on revs, not to mention the mpg that plummeted...
