Default Phew Just Got New Insurance Through

As the heading says just received it in the post, did not open it straight away, thought I would take my Beta Blockers for my heart and a strong cup of coffee before opening it.

It was £264 fully comp no claims last July. So with all the posts and general media coverage of car insurance going up by 40%.

What nobody mentioned was the 40% increase on the gross insurance cost or on the discounted premium.

Well my renewal is £310 so it is only £46 after all the panicking etc.

You got away quite lightly... ours went from £500 to £888, skanking Direct Line. 9 years NCD included in that, too.

ours went up nearly £200 from £400 to £600 so shopped around and got it cheaper than last year, all it takes is a bit of time and a nice big mug of tea

My mother inlaws insurance is due at the end of the month so we went through a few sites last night and I couldn't believe some of the quotes she was getting. She drives a 52 plate F**D Ka, she's mid 40's, lives in low risk area, only uses the car for domestic - no travel to work and drives less than 2000 miles a year, has 8 year ncb and the cheapest we could find was just shy of £300, tesco's were a joke at just over £600. I only pay £550 for my 280 bhp Siggy with all mods declared. So I told her she should by a VXR and be done with it lol.

Not a huge increase, but still worth a ring around! I bet you can save a bit on that price

Its getting silly, Im getting scared for my next renewal in december already lol.
It went up from £590 to £730 last renewal with full NC,low risk area and 26 years old
Plus they wanted an extra £680 for my mother-in-law to be a named driver (48,18 years nc) But gave me a £5 refund to have my own mom as a named driver

But as mentioned above thats not a bad rise, as we was told to expect a 40% rise

this is more down to location than anything else - insurance costs in some areas aren't as badly affected as others this year. if you were in some areas of liverpool or manchester etc, you wouldn't get insurance for less than £700 -- even with experienced/clean licence. no amount of phoning around would help.

I pay monthly with aviva with the missus as a second driver (she has never driven it though) full no claims discount, breakdown cover and legal assistance. it was £50.00 a month inc apr for paying monthly and its going up to £55.41 so it gone up £64.92 for the year all in all
not too bad for a 31 year old fully comp

if i paid it off in one go it would be £579.23 for 1.9 cdti sri 150
