    Default knocking from front end

    i'm hoping you guys can help because i'm a bit stumped;
    my vectra 1.9cdti has developed a knocking from the front passenger side, i first noticed it a few days ago and has got worse since then.
    after searching on here i found it could be the drop links, i've changed the front pair tonight to no avail- knocking still bad as ever.
    after looking again the only thing that shows any sign of movement is the brake pads, they seem to be able to move within the caliper, not sure if this is the cause

    any ideas guys??

    any help appreciated,
    danny

    Is there any play in the wheel? Possibly bearing, track rod end, ball joint, or spring. Could be brake pads, does it knock when you are braking?

    when i had the car jacked up, i held the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock and tried to move it and it wouldn't budge so that rules out track rod end i suppose
    i tried running over rough roads and braking but it was quite tricky, dont think it knocked when i braked but i cant be sure - the road might not have been that bad at that point

    Have you had a look at the ARB bushes? they can give a clunk or three. The wishbone bushes are generally sound unless the bottom ball joint has some give of course.

    yeah i looked at the ARB bushes and they looked fine, my car is only an 07 plate and most of the suspension components looked spot on, except for the drop links that i have now replaced
