Default Reversed into today but minor I hope

Well it finally had to happen after owning the Vec for just over a year now with no incidents.

A lady decided to reverse into me in my works car park today. I was not there at the time but had quite a few work chums who wittnessed it.

The lady was driving a new brand new Merc Estate. People at work said that they heard a very loud bang when she hit.

The damage is very minor to look at (rear bumper replacing I would imagine) but what concerns me is she pushed my car close to a 1ft' forward almost into my mates MR2 I was parked behind.

I will be taking it to the garage to be looked at this week. She does not want to go via insurance (I have all of her details, she is also very well off) Should I be concerned about what may have happened behind the rear bumper. Should there be anything I should look out for?

    Cheers

If it was a loud bang then there may be the chance the crash bar has been flatened. Not too expensive though

    Thanks for that John

Many commented on the loud bang as it took them by suprise. With that and then seeing how far she pushed the car it got my worring head working.

EDIT : It was in gear with the handbrake full on

that mark bottom right is where the bumper impacted the re-inforcing bar behind it.. Could have deformed the bar itself.. Also check the rear door gaps are even and open/close ok, and check underneath the boot carpet for any creases in the floor/bootpan

My GSi got hit in the rear on a roundabout several months back.... the damaged looked very similar to yours.

    HOWEVER....

It went via insurance and when I went to collect it after the garage work, I had a quick chat with the mech who dealt with it.... then he showed me the utterly fubarred crash bar from behind the trim panel !

I'd be straight onto my insurers. It's a 'non-fault' claim which will most probably be sold off to another company (so no claims against your NCB).
If madam wishes to drive a nice Merc, then madam has to accept responsibility for her inability to safely control the vehicle.

Even a non fault claim will effect your next insurance.
