    Default Diesel decat?

I am going to be getting a dual cat back exhaust done next month. To gain extra grunt I am not having a centre box. What potential issues would removing the cat cause? Basically is it worth doing on a cdti 150?

I believe this could be an MOT failure as of next year (no CATS).

Euro 3 and possibly Euro 4 cars might not be affected though.

Yes mate worth doing, had twin exit system fitted, romoved both cats and car now runs smoother, pulls better and with only a slight increase in noise, not much!!! Also passed MOT last month no probs and emmissions test results were lower than with cat!

Sweet, might have to get it done then, same price to de-cat anyway just was worried it could cause me problems

Might be better to have the guts of the catalyst removed so it looks stock. Can't find anything definate (like from VOSA), but I have seen mentioned a few times 'exhaust catalyst presence'. Google it and make your own decision if nobody can definately say either way whether it's a fail or not.

I had both my cats taken out and a dual exhaust system, seemed to make a difference,

One downside so far is the huge black smoke trail you'll leave behind when you floor it

If your exhaust manufacturer is any good they should be able to flange the cat so it can be put back in. I had a flanged de cat on my old Fabia vRS because i wanted to play it safe for an MOT

However i submitted the car for its MOT without the cat and as they don't get an emissions test only a smoke test, my vRS walked it's MOT with flying colours! it did have an extremely hard life with me though so was always blasted so it kept running clean lol
