Which tyres do you use?

Just wondering which tyres people have and what they think of them?

When I got my Vectra 2 months ago, I replaced both front tyres with Uniroyal Rainsport 2's as I got a puncture on the way to work, had to take it to the local tyre place as it was my only option being 130 miles from home.

I usually get my tyres on-line from the likes of camskill - but since this wasn't an option I had to get whatever I could.
I didn't want budget tyres as they are the only things that hold you to the road - I bought the Vectra as a cheap runaround but im not skimping on safety.

I got the two front tyres from the place by work for £220 which included balancing and tracking.

Since then, my rear tyres need doing - they are old and worn - would have used them for another month, but a slow puncture (which is getting quicker) has persuaded me to act now.
I have just ordered some more Rainsport 2's for the rear (Iv got to have matching tyres all round - im abit ocd) for £204 so hoping they will be upto the job.

I have always purchased Toyo Proxes T1R for the past 4 years on my previous cars, but see them as abit overkill for the Vectra.

Just wondering what you guys use? If anyone uses the Rainsports - how do they wear?

It depends on the vehicle I am driving

Due to a mix of country roads, dual carriageways, and motorways I only buy premium brands for my own car
I was impressed with the Michelin my previous Vectra B came with
My next Mondeo (same tyre size) came with Continental and they were horrific (poor wet weather performance and poor wear), swapped to Michelin and that resolved the issue
As much as I like the GoodYear they keep changing the tread patterns, and the most recent has also been discontinued
Sadly the Michelin equivalent is not as good, and everything else I have tested is just as bad if not worse
I did test one set of tyres (not going to mention the brand) but for the price I wouldn't use them (just silly money)

Bridgestone original set currently on 14k and half worn, replace at 2-3mm with whatever good price is from online suppliers to fit myself.

Michelin preffered, pirrelli or goodyear.or Bridgestone.

I have always had Goodyears eagles F1's. I currently have the new Asymmetric 2's and I have covered around 1500 miles on them so far. I think these are the best yet for handling, really good in the wet and amazing in the dry. They are in a different league than the eagle nct5's lol......

Current tyres are Pirelli P7 which are a very good tyre, other tyres I favour being Neuton NT5000, less than half the cost NO negatives in comparison

Rainsport 2's get my vote. Best tyres I've ever had on a car.

What size are yours, btw? I got mine from Camskill for £164 (for 2 tyres). That's the 225/45/17 size. If you've got 17" wheels running 215/50 size, then consider changing the more common size (225/45/17).

Up until a month or so ago I always used Michellin Primacy HP's but have just switched to Neuton NT5000's for financial reasons and am very impressed with them.

Rainsport 2's get my vote. Best tyres I've ever had on a car.

What size are yours, btw? I got mine from Camskill for £164 (for 2 tyres). That's the 225/45/17 size. If you've got 17" wheels running 215/50 size, then consider changing the more common size (225/45/17).

I got 215/50/17 91W on standard SRi rims.

Ahh, would have done that if id have known! Would it not give issues using a slightly wider tyre?

I have recently fitted 4 off Neuton NT 5000 215-50/17 95W
£61 each + 3.50 del each = £64.50 x 4 = £258
I paid my local tyre man £25 to fit 4.
Usually have Michelin but they are circ £160 each.
So far no problems with the Neutons. Maybe a little more road noise than the Goodyear NCT's I took off.
