Default Spare wire / cable in boot cupboard behind lights

i was looking in the boot to change a brake light .

where you would lie the light fittings on the floor area of the cupboard thing in the boot , there is a loose spare wire / cable with a fitting on the end .

what is it and for what ?

    is for towing maybe ?

sorry , i forgot to say it's on the drivers side .

    i havn't looked on passenger side , maybe there's another there .

Think on the hatchback that's where the TPMS module goes.
