    Default Automatic gearchange slow

    Hi everyone,

On my Siggy 1.9 150hp the auto box doesn't want to go up into 2nd very quickly, not until up to 3000rpm, unless I use an extremely light touch on the gas.

Is this normal? It's certainly not like previous autos I've driven. I end up switching into manual override as soon as I move off, in order to get 2nd gear. Could it be a sensor - any other ideas? All other gearchanges seem OK.

    Otherwise a brilliant car!

    Cheers,

    Rog

Not up on Siggy's, but my Vectra doesn't suffer from that at all.

Generally changes are smooth, unless I go up or down several in quick succession - my impatience I suppose. It's got full service FWIW, but do you think the oil and filter change would do it - been the same since I had the car last November. Oh, 46K on the clock, 06 plate.

    Cheers

Could be a couple of things.
If you change to quick you can sometimes not give the box enough time to catch up.

I'd go first with changing oil an filter as it's reativly cheap an rules that out.

But sometimes delays can be caused by torque converter ( basically automatic version of a normal clutch)

OK, will try that first. Otherwise must drive according to my age!

Mine is a bit slow on the up-shifts when cold but afaik it does it to warm the box up. When it's hot it shifts up when it is supposed to... unless I nail it!

Yup, all the time - hate screaming engines when I'm getting nowhere, good job the torque is there for a quick switch into 2nd.

Guess I'll put up with it until the next service, then get the oil and filter changed.

So does yours change quickly into 2nd when it's warmed up?
