    Default Urgent help please guys

Hi all, checked my water a few weeks ago and there were signs of oil in it, so I decided to clean the bottle out etc... , checked again today and theres more oil in the water, is this the head gasket ?

Im not sure if my car has an oil cooler ? its a 1.8 ls

The car doesnt over heat, there is also no sign of the 'mayo' on the oil filler cap or dipstick etc...

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks very much

Get the system sniff tested to see if there are hydro carbons present.

ps, vague subject headers can get ignored. More helpful to both you and people looking to include a brief summary of the question you're asking in the header.

No oil cooler on 1.8 as far as I'm aware, as above get the system sniff tested to rule out or confirm the head gasket.

    Thanks guys.
Is there anything else I can check myself while im waiting to get it sniff checked ?

Ive just started the car, its been stood about 4 hours and the small top hose that goes to the water bottle is constantly throwing hot water into the bottle, is this normal ?

I thought the water would be cold lol.

The water was also clean and not brown.

Also the big water pipe that connects to the bottom was NOT bubbling up, which im told it can do if its the head gasket.
    Thanks very much

i think the water coming from the small hose is from the throttle body area so I'd guess it's normal to be got quickly.

Small hose is normal mate ;-)

Thanks guys, well, the oil was low before i bought the car just over a week ago.

Since then I have topped it up for now, and it hasnt used any at all, still at just below the max level, just seems strange to me as ive never had a vectra before, but other cars that ive had its been very obvious the head has gone, but with this theres very little signs.

    Thanks very much
