    Default 2.0T intercooler problem

hi guys my car is in my bodyshop @ work for a respray i was happy with the work happening so fast untill we noticed the intercooler is not looking to hot, the whole bottom is sagging down as if it was a bag! is this common? iv got a panel filter, stainless exhaust & a remap, would any of that cause this? also would it be causing perfomrance issuses? iv not really had problems with the cars power, any ideas would be great ill try & get a pic up tonight! thanks

sounds like its shagged mate.. it would guess it has a blockage inside.. You can buy a stock replacement one from for about £125 or a better made from from Forge for about £550 ish.

Take the existing intercooler off and tip out all the crap, flush it with something like petrol if you can. I will last you a little while longer yet but I would be looking to replace it..

an overboost issue would **** your turbo more than an intercooler, if you have no other probs you should be fine..

I would clean out the intercooler pipes and throttle body though while your at it.. Intercoolers do get oil in them over time. These intercoolers on our cars are fine for the job but have been known to leak from the plastic ends.. I would not be overly concerned about the intercooler doing that, i would hazard a guess than one or more of the intercoolers internal cores has blocked or choked... If it did it again it would raise an eyebrow but its only cooling charged air that has bits of engine oil floating about in it..
