    Default Battery Light

Just driving home and my battery light has illuminated. It stayed on for the duration of the journey. When I arrived home, I switched the ignition off and re-started the car, and bingo.....its gone out again.
Should I be worried or not? Has anybody any idea what the likely cause is.
Got a good bit of driving to do tomorrow and don't fancy breaking down.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Get your alternator checked.

Tomorrow after a little bit of driving it will more than likely come on

mine comes on after a few miles and stays on even though the alternator is charging the battery, had it checked by the rac and the local garage the fault finder says its lamp charging generator = alternator rac said it might be on its way out but been fine for over 4 weeks now starts no problem

    Defo check your alternator out.

If you check in the book the light that looks like a battery is, in fact, the alternator!!

    Mine went last winter.

Technically, the battery light comes on when power is being drawn from the battery instead of the alternator which under any normal circumstances should only happen if the alternator has failed.

What a nightmare, the cars just approaching the 100k mark and according to its service history, it has already had an alternator. How much are we looking at to replace??
