    Default Engine Transplant.

I ve been on here a few weeks, (dont get many response's to any questions) Maybe cause im new but im gonna try again!!!!

I want to put a 1.8 vectra C engine into the car I have at the moment which is a 1.6.

Apart from the engine itself and an ecu is there anything else that would need to be changed???

Fuel pump etc??? or will the one in it do???

what car is it going in to ,does either of the cars come with any equipment that the other doesnt,ie aircon stuff like that ,need more info tho for a better answer

checked your garage it a 1.6 vec ,fuel pump the same ,and i expect bottom end of engine the same so mounts should be fine ,imo yes straight swap not a mechanic tho

I was recently looking for a fuel filter for my 1.8 and from what i saw the 1.8 is different from the 1.6 but may still have the same fittings within the tank. As you say the 1.6 vec is rare, I've not heard of one in gb.

    Thanks lads,
I dont want the 1.8 for gains, I want it because I have searched both Ireland and the U.k and there is no z16xe engines around which was the original engine my car came with.

There is a couple of z16xep engines but I have been told they will not go in for some reason.

So bar scrapping a 2004 car which I dont want to do, I was gonna see if a 1.8 would work as there is no shortage of.

@new boy, your advice in my last two threads have been anything but useful.

After reading back on your previous threads your changing the engine as yours is on its way out correct ??

all makes sense now i thought you were changing because you wanted to try and make your car go faster, sorry for the confusion
