    Default Parcel shelf speakers

Right, I have a JVC DD HU with sub output on the back, what would be the easiest way to add a couple of 6 x 9s to the parcel shelf....

Why would you want to do that? Do you go to a concert and sit with your back to the stage?

In all seriousness, the best and most powerful speakers should always be at the front, with slightly less power behind and subs to fill the "feel" of it.

Lol, seriously, 6 x 9's are fine if you're in a poxy little clio or something, because there's no room to put anything half decent anywhere else without serious modification. But the Vec has 6.5" speakers in every door and decent ones of those will give far superior sound to 6 x 9's in the shelf because of the enclosed space of the doors.

Upgrade the door speakers to half decent ones, the extra "fill" you want will suddenly be there and you won't regret it.

Well as you probably know, my personal preference is for Alpine, but there are a lot of good makes out there and the important thing is to match the capability of the h/u with the speakers. There's no point fitting 200w speakers if your h/u is only pumping out 10w per channel for example as it will actually end up sounding considerably worse because the cones aren't being moved properly.

I believe Pioneer make upgrade speakers for the Vec that fit straight in without adaptors, might be worth looking at.

Personally if it was me (and I did), I'd fit decent component speakers in each door and match them with an amp (ok, I used four amps but you get the idea) but it's just as easy to get some decent speakers fitted that will suit the output of your h/u.

4 x 50w max so if you're planning on only using the head unit, you need to stick to lower powered speakers (no more than 100w max rated really). If you want to make the most of the unit, I'd get a nice little 4 x 100w/150w amp and fit some nice 150/200w speakers.

Have a quick look at my thread in the ICE forum if you havent seen it before, obviously my system's a lot more than you're looking to do, but it may help with some things.

Nope, sorry, have a couple of spares laying around here, so just had a look but the label gives no hint as to the power rating.
