    charge?

Had my GSi in for a clutch replacement yesterday and i've been charged £56.70 inc VAT per hour - how does this stack up with what other people pay at their local indie?

I get charged £60 per hour at my local VX dealership, all the others in the area seem to be nearer £80 per hour

My local garage charges £20 per hour, but won't do any work on my engine (that includes servicing)

£40 per hour is one garage I use. VAT registered and the other I use also VAT registered charged me £200 to strip engine and remove turbo, replace gaskets and then re fit turbo which I think is ace.

If your local garage charges £20 per hour but won't touch engine what do they do?

guess what i pay doesnt sound too bad then, i thought it was a bit steep just seems to be the going rate.

BTW 4.5 hours labour for a clutch replacement, i think thats pretty good going - thoughts

They will do every other car I have, but not the 3.0 V6 CDTI
They quoted for a service previously (based on 2 hours labour and parts) and it was nearly double the quote from VX
Even on a simple oil and filter change the quote is the same as VX at £90
For this Vectra I therefore use them for brakes, suspension, tyres, etc

    ROFL!

I wouldn't be surprised at 4.5 hrs to do a clutch on a FWD car.

Local indie charged £33 plus VAT last time I went.
