Default Need a little help as it wont start after tinkering!

Had the engine in pieces this afternoon. Had sprayed a tin of 10K Boost into it a week or so ago but since have had "limp mode" and the spanner light on if taking the car over 3/3.5k rpm which means not taking it over 70mph!

Took the EGR valve off and cleaned it, took the inlet manifold off (assuming it is this - the bit the egr fits into) cleaned the boost sensor and the bit that plugs into. To take the manifold off I took the metal fuel lines off.

Have put it all back together and now it turns over but wont fire. My assumption is there is a fueling issue with a possible air lock(?)

Long story short I need the car for tomorrow lunch time and up a creek at the moment....

    Any help much appreciated

I would say fuelling possibly as the DTi's aren't self bleeding apparently.

Assuming it is air in the fuel system, easiest way is to tow-start it

Yup sounds like air in the system. Either get someone to tow you down the road in gear for a few hundred yards or slacken off the nut on one of the injectors and crank over in spurts until diesel starts to drip out. The DTi engines aren't self priming.

Brilliant... For the towing option.... do you need the ignition on? Am I in essence trying to bump start it? Sorry for the bone nature of the question!

You could try spraying carb cleaner or something of the likes straight into the inlet that should help draw the fuel through once the cylinders are firing

Basically is bump start mate yeah. Ignition on so that you've got electrical signal to fuel solenoid etc.

Then put in gear. I usually do 2nd hold clutch down once you've got adequate speed lift clutch and it should start your engine

Update! Towing option taken and worked a treat - Thanks for the advice

Got the car to the local garage, £48 for a play on the diagnostics machine which I thought was a bit steep but the bloke said it you have any reoccuring problems bring it back and have another plug and play for free so not that bad, and it was the boost sensor that was showing as a fault which was fixed by refitting a small tube that had come off so running OK again!!
