    Unhappy Anybody good with computers??

    Hi peeps!

Having a bit of a nightmare with my pc at the moment! Had a tidy up on it the other day then it didnt detect my router so i uninstalled and reinstalled it. Had some probs with it not accessing the router but that is now ok. The problem im having is that it has a very slow downlload speed now on anything i am connected via an ethernet connection direct from the pc to my router my other flat mates have wireless adaptors and they are working fine. Sais im connected ok and my connection speed is around the 400kb mark which is good. But everything else is poo! lol. Web pages take ages and downloading programs and updates dont even rgister on the progress bar! Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, i had a similar problem a while ago and it was down to my firewall, if you have one running try disabling it and then opening web pages etc and if they open ok uninstall and reinstall your firewall that solved it for me.

If you are using xp, that also has a firewall, this can cause problems with other firewall programs and also if you are trying to access your router you will need to disable it. if its a wireless router you will need to use the rj11 (i think rj11, if not rj45, one of them) cable provided with the router for when you set it up, disable all firewall and anti-virus then try re-installing and then re-configuring the router. if that doesnt work, check you paid your internet bill lol. If this is still not the problem, try drag racing with it tied to the tow bar from the rear?
