Default Clutch - is it just me...

Its it just me or is the clutch on my 2006 1.8vvti a right so and so to get a clean getaway? I find it quite high biting and 1st to 2nd is hard to do smoothly!

I've had a lot of cars and didn't notice this on my older 2004 CDTi but I find this clutch quite 'sudden'! Seems to be ok otherwise and doesn't seem to be slipping or anything like that.

Seems fine on my 2004 1.8 - though I'm used to some very snatchy, heavy clutches drag racing in the likes of a modified Renault 5 GT Turbo (with Volvo 440 clutch as it has a higher clamping force) and a Pulsar GTI-R (with Exedy clutch)...

Just takes a bit of practice to control the clutch pedal against the spring pressure, rather than letting the clutch push your foot up. After a while it becomes natural.

What I can't get on with is floppy clutches (like on some Fords) where there's virtually no spring pressure.

Yeah it does feel like theres a fair amount of spring pressure at the bit point - not heavy as such, just 'springy'!

Its only got 35k on a 2006, so might be still bedding in
