    Default Help please 1.9cdti

    Hi all I have had my 150 1.9 cdti around 2 months and this is second time I have noticed it on my 10 mile motorway drive to work cruise control at 70mph and I am struggling to reach 35mpg (normally 45)
    I just can't get my head round it any ideas it's done 39k

    think to achieve your best mpg you would need to get your car up to optimum temp and on a 10 mile journey your engine will be barely warm.
    and don't always go by the obc as it's very rarely right

    Has it been serviced? Are you just going off the trip computer or have you calculated it when fueling up?

    The trip comp it's usually spot on tbh and it's warm by slip road I do a few miles before and have it ticking over for a while before set off
    Serviced before I got it by vxl

    Cheers for the prompt responses but it's on the fuel gauge and obc I know these are variable and tht but usually I gain on obc reading not loose and thi is only every now and then it's usually great

    If you leave it ticking over for a while then your MPG will drop massively as you're burning fuel while not moving.

    I mean whilst driving obc is saying like 32mPg when normally I'm up at 45-50 this is once every now and then that's why I don't get it :s

    As for economy this type of running isn't the best for economy, I can frequesntly see single figure mpg on the instant econ readings while accelerating through the gears on inclines etc and in daily grind 40mpg or less is pretty realistic.

    on long motorway run's I can easily get over 50mpg all day but in volume traffic and on commute's 35/40 is all to easy to see.
