If you simply want to save money, then any budget brand

If you want to stay with a premium brand, then look at the back of the handbook and you will notice two tyre sizes
The obvious answer is to swap to 225/45R17 91W or 91Y
Presumably the fronts have worn, so swap the rears to the front, new on the rear, and that will wear the remaining 215/50R17 tyres out
Once they have worn out your car will then be on 225/45R17 consistently and save you about 30%
Equally, you can also stay with a premium brand

The 225/45R17 does give you a slight harsher ride quality, due to the reduced profile, but the difference is minimal
However it will also improve road holding slightly
The road contact surface area remains the same, but changes from a rounder shape to a more rectangular shape

Simply getting rid of the NCT5's will do that

As said though, change to the 225/45/17 size

ps, I can highly recommend Uniroyal Rainsport 2's. Just bought a couple from Camskill and paid a local tyre place £20 to fit them. Total cost for the 2 tyres and fitting was £184.18

Best tyres I've ever had. Front's still had 4mm of tread left after 15,000 miles, and have now been moved to the rear. I'm no light foot driver, btw.

Rainsport will be around £120 each
Vredstein will be around £110 each
Neuton NT5000 will be around £70 each

Read tyre reviews on the net and also on here. Most rave about these Neuton tyres so do a search. I was set to buy Rainsports until I read the reviews of the Neutons - and at a bargain price I'll be getting them next week when my size are avaialble

Khumo Ecsta Sport (mid range) 215/50/17 91W - £95 fitted or £83 delivered.

Khumos Ecsta Sport or HM (mid range) 225/45/91w - £66 delivered.

I use these tyres and have done on all my cars for about last five years. They are a mid range tyre so not budget - if you google them you will see they are pretty well thought of as well.

I have paid upto £180 for track racing tyres but 90% of the time they make no difference because you aren't on a track. Kwik Fit quoted £250 for a single tyre for me once!!!

I just had budget 225 50 R17 tyres fitted at £250 for four and they are fine. Admittedly, I have noticed they don't corner as well as high cost models but I'm talking about sharp turns at high speeds with the intention of seeing what they can do.

I'm happy paying under £65 a corner fitted to reduce my ability to corner hard at 70mph.

there's a tendency to go "wow, these are great - much better than the last ones!" when putting new tyres on - because it's clearly a comparison with the worn, shoddy rubber that just came off. Probably won't make that much difference to the dry weather handling whatever the tyre - this isn't a ferrari after all. Wet weather is different - the cheap ones usually perform quite badly in the wet. <<IMO - just what I have found.

Got a new pair of Falken FK452 on the front now - not bad at all. Certainly adequate for a budget tyre. Haven't had chance to see what the wear rate is like yet.
