    Default Paint softness

I have offered to have a go at a mate's car, it is an audi A3 which is generally known to have hard paint (An excuse to buy more products).
However after doing a bit of research I found out that vauxhall post 1998 changed to soft paint. Would explain why they swirl up so easy.

Ginge i think that VX were jumping the gun in relation to a European Product Directive which banned the current solvent based paints from 01 January 2007. The ruling applied to car manufacturers and to body shops.
to prevent the health and saftey/ illnesses that were occuring with the older solvents that were used

and it was probably cheaper to apply too

well from an enviromental / health perspective .... its a better thing

but from a detailling cleaning point of view its bad ... as the paint is sooo soft you pick up marks from stonechips .... birdlime ...cleaning ...or even looking at it!!

I would have heard good things about P1. But ford paint is harder than VX, so the best thing maybe to just fill the swirls with a few coats of SRP.
