    Default Worst case scenario - how much for these repairs?

    I am weighing up looking at a car which in the next year or so "may" need the following work doing, so im after information on what you guys have paid for the following work to be done on your cars. Im putting a "worst case scenario" to the buyer to beat up the price.

    Car is a 1.9 CDTI 150 16v.

    If anyone from West Midlands, please let me know the place too.

    • Clutch & DMF (my friend had one done about 8 months ago for £575 inc VAT);
    • Inlet Manifold & Actuator;
    • EGR Valve (£101 +VAT new);
    • MAP out and EGR blank off (car has a DPF!!). Ben @ MAS says £100 if no DPF present;
    • Alternator (my dads had one about 10 months ago, I think it was £75 exchange);
    • Cambelt Kit (should the water pump be done at the same time)?
    • Full Service.

    Im looking at about £1000 for repairs, if all of the above were to need doing, so im after feedback on the cheapest places where I can get the work done. Everything will be parts and labour.

    Oh, and yes I am looking at yet another Signum.

    Bye bye Vec B

    I believe your budget will just about cover the DMF & Clutch. Ive not had to have it done myself but the majority of feedback on the forum points at £1000+ for this job alone.

    If youre having a full service at a vauxhall dealership you'll be paying between £200-£350

    As for the rest of your list, I have no idea.

    I think you would be better off beating the price DOWN !!!

    By the look of it , you need all the spare cash you can save .

    Just a thought,.. with there being soooo many 1.9 CDTI 150s about,... why are you so keen on this one? You have rich pickings in this category and car

    Inlet manifold costs about £175 from ebay (and more from Vauxhall), let's say £200 to fit it? That's £375, which added to the £575 for the DMF & clutch (which is a good price), you've already reached your £1000 limit, with all the other work still to do.

    maybe he likes a " project " car and it was too cheap to miss out on .

    similar to my mate who has just bought a 1991 , H , Nissan 300zx , d.o.h. , 24 valve for £ 560 .

    bought blind and had it transported from lancashire to newcastle .

    no m.o.t. , but running and is smoking like a fog machine .

    some people enjoy the thrill of fixing up cars .

    I have looked around LOADS over the last few months.
    This one is exactly what im looking for, half-lather, SatNav, BT, 17" Alloys, generally clean, receipts & paperwork to hand, but just no evidence of major work, hence my somewhat cautious approach.

    I thought looking outside or Birmingham (as there are so many frauds around here) would help me find a good one, but I have tried that too and people are so dishonest these days. I went to see one the weekend and I asked the chap 3 times if it had had any repairs and he said no never been damaged and HPI clear. Well when I got there I saw the passenger side was all re-painted by a probably a blind bloke, I said to the chap I asked you if it had been repaired and you said no, he goes well it hasnt its just been painted but THATS WHY HE WANTED ME TO COME DOWN AND SEE IT.

    He said I knew that it had been done when I bought it and admitted that it was a disgraceful job but would rather you came and viewed and made me a offer. Annoys me!

    Therefore, at least with this I know where I stand from the off!

    I have already heard the engine running and it sounds OK, like a normal diesel tractor.

    Yes I would prefer to NOT have a 1.9 CDTI 150, but for the type of vehicle I want and the budget, there isnt much else about in the bracket.
