Default 2.2 direct limp home.....Fuel pump

Ok just picked car up from its MOT and on way home EML comes on and limp home mode
Called the MOT centre and he said nothing was wrong with the car at the centre, but he did comment how hot the engine was when he opened the bonnet???????????

Called a diag guy and he thinks its the fuel pump, I had the recall Pressure regulator done a few months back, but he wants £40 + vat to link up comp.

Just in time for billings thanks

    Oh car past MOT

Ok just had diag done ant its showing P1191-52 fuel pressure system malfunction.......

My pressure is going from 4700kba to 5600kba and the reccommended is 5000kba
My fuel pressure feedback was between 1.5-1.7 Volts.

So am I right in saying its the fuel pressure regulator and not the hp pump?

    Well what a suprise.......
Called vx this morning, they said drop car off put we may not get chance to look at it till thursday and it will cost you £64+VAT for us to fault find.
I informed them I had a opcom session last night and have all the info they need to point to the FPR valve, but they have said they will NOT fit any parts unless they fault find themselves.
They then said that if it is a faulty FPR they will have to call vx HQ to ask if they will cover the costs of part and fitting or even contribute to it.....I replied 1..Its on recall? he said but you had it done a few months ago I then said well doesnt all parts and labour come with 12 months guarantee?....he said not on recalls as I said Mr Evans I will try and ask vx for a contribution or full costs, but I can only try.....But I still need to to a fault finding session even if you have the fault codes etc because that doesnt tell us the fault it just lets us know it could be this or that.

Yeah I said on the phone if its a faulty FPR I aint paying a penny as its only been in a few months, plus I know it aint the fuel pump as ive had opcom etc done and there is no loss of pressure, just something wrong with the voltage on the FPR.

I had this on my old 04 SRI 2.2 direct,... 13 months after the replacement it went again - Wilson in Grimsby did the work and charged (reduced price) as it was over 12 months,.. Evan Halshaw Service manager said he would have contested and got work carried out as a VX fault. Stand firm,.. last chance,.. get Watchdog back on the game!!!!

They should waive the diagnostic fee if you have the work done by them.

They should only charge if you want the code(s) read out, but go elsewhere or DIY for the repair to cover their labour time and equipment usage.

Just dropped the car off and I said, I have had op com done, I have given you a piece of paper with all the INFO op com gave me eg fault codes, pressures, voltage etc. So if it turns out to be the FPR I want a refund for the diagnostics......

He replied with I will surely contact vauxhall regarding this, but please be aware because you had the recall done, they may only offer a part payment towards the total cost if any thing at all.........
I am going to call vx customer services see what they say.

Ok vx got round to looking at the car and they called me asking to go in as it may sound wrong over the phone, (my heart sank)

Well 1st things the HP fuel pump has gone Then came the BUT we also think the regulator has gone, but we will not know if it has untill we fit the pump and clear codes then run the car for a while.......

So then he spoke costs.....He said as you are a trade club member we have discounted your labour as we cant supply the pump at trade price it will be retail.... So the new labour price was £60.00+vat rather than the £256 quoted yesterday, but the pump will be £374+vat not £252+vat.
After a few short words the pump was £252+vat as I said I will supply the pump from going to the desk behind you, he said yeah we can do it that way. They think we is stupid So all in £375 so I thought thats fine, then he was like plus £88.23 from fault finding/diagnostics today so thats £463.23.........

But if the regulator has gone AGAIN this will be around £140 fitted as vx will not honour a guarantee on recall or free fitted parts......Once a recall has been done it will not be done again free of charge. Got to call vx customer service tommorrow as I will be sending an email to watchdog and trading standards as I had a new regulator fitted 5 months ago.
