    Default 1.9td 8v and 1.9td 16v

    Hi

Having owned both for about 2 years, thought i fill you in the difference to drive and such. (8v is a life model, 16v is an SRi)

Performance, 8v feels slightly sluggish from a standing start, like pulling on to a roundabout, the 16v feels like a petrol off the mark.

However the 8v feels like it has more torque, like i can make it up the mk car park in 2nd gear in the 8v, need 1st gear for 16v.

Clearly the 16v is quicker, but the above is about how they feel.

    Fuel consumption
16v slightly worse round town, but better on the run.
The big difference comes if you drive it with lead foot, 16v drinks deisel in comparison, guess those extra 30 horses have to come from somewhere.

In conclusion the extra poke of 16v is nice, but if unsure which to go with, you won't be dissapointed with the 8v, it doesn't feel that much slower, and you can be more heavy footed with it, without it costing the earth.

LOL i have 8v as well, but if remap the consumption will be as high as 16v (bc is no longer accurate for a remapped engine). Extra power has to comes from somewhere. And remap may clog the DPF as the fuel may not fully burn.

on the 16v if you remap it to 175 bhp and 80 nm more torque wont clog dpf anymore than standard and will blow 8v into the ground

I have the 8 valve remapped to 170 hp / 400 nm (2100 - 2800 rpm) and it use less diesel then standard. The 8v its more reliable firstly because it dont have the swirl flaps.

Is that an official figure from an independant RR or the figures quoted by the remapper?

From a indepedant measure. Its not RR, but a system mounted direkt at the hubs. Look at the picture. This way to measure its more exact then a RR.

I remap self, but use one of the medusa-motorsport.com person to adjust the file.
