Question Y30DT - Turbo Cover - easiest way to block EGR valve

    Hi all 3.0 cdti owners

It's my first post on this forum, so "Hi" for everyone

I'll try to block EGR valve before he's not broken yet. I found the best place to this between turbo ( exactly exhaust manifold) and gas cooler (this one before the EGR valve). But i can not remove turbo cover. I unscrewed 4 bolts ( two on top, one on right side and one at the back. But the cover still does not want to go. Is there more bolts there? Or mayby is some easiest way to block EGR valve in Y30DT?

Thanks you in advance for your replay.
Sorry for my English. I'm still learning

I remember my mechanic had trouble removing the heat shield too. I think there's a 5th bolt on the left, but I've a short memory lol

No...I replaced the turbo on my old Y30DT. I blocked the EGR (partially) on the inlet part for a bit...removed the blanking plate after a while.

What was the reason of removing the blanking plate? Some problems with errors in ECU or something else? I heard, that when you blank EGR the ECU will give you an error. But I don't really know, how ECU can knows that EGR blocked is? Only then EGR is broken and signal about his position incorrect is (I think so). So when EGR is ok, and you blank him before, ECU shouldn't knows that. That's why I want to try blank EGR before gas cooler.
