Default Vectra C my thoughts so far

So my last car was a Mondeo MK3 2ltr in silver and I now own a Vectra C 1.8 in Silver.

    My thoughts so far

    Pro's
Stylish: It looks very nice and even though I have a 2004 car it holds upto todays style.

Boot: It huge and I have a hatchback which is a must since I have 2 large dogs.

Cruise Control: I love it. First car with Cruise control. Not very good at slowing down though but the speeding up part is good.

Interior: Loads of room and very comfortable. My seats are not electric which is a step down from the Mondeo but easy to use. No rear back electrics on the windows but I imagine that this is just to do with the model I have.

Drive: It's a pleasure to drive

    Cons:

Suspension: Going over a speedbump slowly feels like im driving a tractor off a cliff.

Rain water hole: Within a week of having this car the fans only worked on setting 4. After typing in Vectra fans google suggested "fans only working on setting 4" So clearly a commn problem. I quickly foind this forum and figured that the rain plug was blocked. I changed the resistor which solved the fan issue. Now the 1 setting is rubbish but I can't remember how good it was before and the floor is soaked dispite trying to dry. Bad design !!!!

Ariel: Seems crap. Radio signal is not as good as last car.

Stearing wheel buttons: As the buttons are on the wheel itself rather than beside it, when you turn your wheel you cannot use the controls. This means you have to be going perfectly straight to be able to change track or turn volume up or down.

Gears: Seems a bit slow in the frist 3 gears but 3rd gear is good as it is very forgiving( I seem to forget to go into 4th as 3rd is so forgiving)
I also hate that reverse is near 1st and not behind 5th

    Speakers: Seem poor

    Boot: Nightmare to close

    Conclusion

I love the car as it is stylish and feels like a luxury car to have. It has all the space I need and drives well. I wish mine had the trip computer with miles left until I have to refil. I will egt used to closing the boot and the carpet will dry. I am going to try find a way to stop the rain plug from clogging up. I still don;t like the suspension but cannot be sure this is not an after market one. Steering buttons are just a niggle and I can change the ariel. The slow gears make it comfortable to drive as long as I don't try burn any cars off at the lights.

Why are you trying to operate the stereo controls whilst cornering? Keep your attention on the road pls.

There is a handle inside the boot to close it, you can retro fit the BC and in time mate you will get used to the buttons without even thinking about it.

I use the handle but about 70% of the time I don't pull it down with enough force so I have to open it and push down on the outside. Hand print city!

Thats what my wife said but not all roads are straight so it may be a constant turn and in the mondeo I can still focus on the road turn the wheel and use the side control as it stays in the same place while I turn the wheel

Sounds like you have an SRi, - no electric rear windows, lowered sports suspension standard. I had trouble getting used to the right pressure to shut boot, you get used to it. For once, I agree with Jezzy on turning and messing with radio. The rest is just odd faults, get them sorted and you're away.
