    Default Bonnet wont open

    Hi
Ive done a search on here to see if anyone else has had this problem but the only ones I can find are when the bonnet wont 'pop' from pulling the lever inside the car. Mine 'pops' from inside the car but when I move the lever in the grill it wont open!. Anyone got any ideas please?
    Thanks
    Johny

Having this trouble with mine at the moment, and hoping to get it looked at in the week - we have short term fix for emergencies, which takes 2 people - one to pop the inside lever and hold it firmly pulled back, whilst the other then pulls up the grille lever from the outside. Currently this is working for us, and may help you out short term - seems as if it's releasing initially, but then drops shut again as soon as you let go of the lever.

    Bloomin pain in the bum!!!

    Hi
Yep it does feel slack but with the bonnet 'popping' I thought the fault maybe was with the lever. I ll try the 2 man (ooer ) approach

On mine when it went wrong the cable had slipped under the bonnet. Look at the slam panel and you'll see the cable. follow it to the catch and you'll notice the end of it isn't against the catch. Undo the clamp a little bit, pull the cable back an inch or so and job done.

If the bonnet pops when you pull the lever, the cable is fine. It must be a problem with the retaining mechanisum as you though (stops the bonnet flying up if you forget you pulled the release inside or catch it accidentally).

there is a little lever from the padel under the bonnet which pushes the hook back, you may be able to get to the hook dirrectly with skinny fingers or a thin tool and pull it clear.

    Hi Nutron
Yep the cable def. does its job.it is the safety lever. A mate has a gsi..had a look at his, seems that his is slightly different than mine. His bonnet opens more and you are able to get your fingers inside.Mine seems to have a lip that prevents this.It also seems to have a plastic shield to prevent pokng anything in. I ll leave it to VX now...thanks anyway everyone for the suggestions
