    Default Exhaust tips........

Ok peeps, had an email from my insurance company as a asked about fitting a aftermarket/custom exhaust. They have said the do not allow any modifactions that alter the power output or handling of the car, so any exhaust/suspension upgrades are not possable whilst with swiftcover.
As I have just under 6 months left on my insurance I will not get any refund from my premium so changing insurer is just not possable due to costs.

So I have a 2.2direct with the twin exit exhaust with oval tips, is it possable to just purchase new tips and cut the old ones of and clamp/weld the new ones on. I just want to fill the gap better in the valance if you know what I mean . I have thought about just replacing the back boxes with universal/custom boxes. But not sure if that will effect power output or just give me some exhaust noise.
This of course will be a temporary fix till december/Jan when I change my insurance over.

    Ideas please peeps

yes I know about swift.com and their no no nos I had a body kit fitted to my car for 3 years whilst under their insurance ...I had never been bothered to read the very small print that says that they dont insure cars that have had body kits fitted to them .luckily I had gotten away with it ...
As for changing just the tips ..any good exhaust centre can fabricate your tips ...I had mine done at a cost of £20 each tip and the tips costed me £40 each. so my rear end got changed for £120.....

is your exhaust system all ok ..or is it falling apart with rust ...
maybe when you call MIJ just ask them if they have an s/s system that will just give you a bit of a growl and no performance gains ...get them to sign a piece of paper about the gains for the insurance company ..
because for the cost of a full system it might be worth asking ...

No probs with mine dude, had it checked a a few months ago as I had a rattle but it turned out to be rear pads. I was going to sell mine to get some cash back on the new one but swift say nooooo only standard exhaust or my insurance may be void.
