    Default Quick amp/speaker question

The time has come to fit my new speakers and amp (weather permitting & how tired i am after nights) had them for ages but not got around to fitting them

    however i have a question or 2

I want to run a small 4 channel amp for my door speakers but i still want the option of listening to the radio when ignition is off and amp(s) are not on, is it safe to wire the amp into speaker along with the original wiring so it will be amp'd with ignition on but can still be played whilst parked up (i know i can wire up to be on with stereo but i dont want to drain battery)

Also with the power lead for amp, i already have 1 lead which is heavily overy rated for my current amp, can i just double up the wire and run a 2nd power cable to new amp? the inline fuse is in battery compartment but unsure if it would take the strain (amp wiring rated up to 520W), both amps are 250W so i imagine it would

Thanks for your help in advance

only way you can do it safely is to have DPDT relays on every speaker and have them switch when the ignition is on to switch from the stereo feed to the amp feed

amps dont take that much power out the battery if they are only small ones and your not having it too loud so just have it on all the time, my corsa had a piddly little battery and i once had the radio on with the amp powering the sub and 2 6x9'f for about 1.5 - 2 hours and it still started fine, with the battery size the vecs have it aint a problem really and if need be start the car up every half hour for 10mins or so to give it a charge

I'd go with everyone else, just wire it to the remote on, I mean there's rarely gonna be a time where you're listening to it at full pelt for over an hour... As long as your battery is good you'll be fine.
