    Default Replacing V5C quickly

Has anyone had to do this recently?

Trying to Tax the Nova GSi to take to Billing, got it MOTed yesterday and the V5C for the car has vanished.

On the DVLA website is says to ring or write and they'll sort it.
However a search round the net suggests I can go to my local DVLA office and get one there and then (it is a 3 year old reply though)

Does anyone know if this is still possible? then while i'm there I can give the government a wedge for using there poorly maintained roads.

To tax it online, I need the code off the front of the V5C.

Hence I need the log book

You can go to your local DVLA office, fill in both a V10 & V62 form along with an additional £25 for a replacement logbook, they will tax the car there and a new V5 will be sent out.

Send EVERYTHING to the DVLA recorded delivery after photocopying it first.

From buying my car in March I sent a tax refund form & V5 for change of owner... after 4 weeks they initially "say" they're received & awaiting processing. After six weeks they change their mind & "say" the forms were never received.

So which is it? Someone at the DVLA is telling porkies.

2nd set of forms sent in & after chasing they're saying they've been received but can't help regarding the progress until another six weeks have passed. Nice that they make me wait nearly 3 months for a substantial refund and they might NOT back date it to my first application in March. Let's hope they don't change their mind again & deny receiving them a 2nd time.

I we were that lapse in paying for our tax discs we'd be in the doo doo. Funny when the shoe's on the other foot isn't it.

DVLA also work things in there favour, sent in a tax refund via recorded delivery. Got confirmation from royal mail it was delivered on the 27th. When I recieved my refund it was much less than it was meant to be so I called them. They said it wasnt recieved untill the 2nd of the month????? Apparently its from the date that department recieves the paperwork not when its delivered to the building and signed for by reception.

scotty it clearly states on the refund form that it is refunded based on the date it is posted, (i.e. the date stamped on the envelope by royal mail)
