Default Planning a road trip in 2012.

I'm planning a road trip for next summer and want some recommendations on where to go sight seeing en route (car/motorsport related would be good but not essential).
The planned trip so far is travel to Nurburgring then over to Le Mans for the 24hr racing.
Probably travel to Ashford on a Tuesday and stay there the night, get an early ferry to Calais, head to the "ring" and camp overnight before having a day at the circuit on the Thursday. Then head back into France and onto Le Mans during Friday. Stay at the circuit for the weekend and travel back through Sunday night.

France > Belgium > Holland > Germany to Nurburgring.
Germany > Luxembourg > France (through Paris) to Le Mans.

So if anyone has any ideas for nice places to stop off along the route, i'd be grateful.

    Thanks,
    FIL.

Sounds like a good trip Phil, Not thought about going on the Eurotunnel??, it's effortless now, if you enter your reg number on the booking form you simply pull up to one of the self serve booths and it will read your plate and give you train boarding times, just touch the one you want..

Personally I'd avoid Paris at all costs as its a car park most of the time.
I'd Stick to toll roads aswell as French drivers are some of the worst there are, almost had my car damaged so many times in France as we drove home from Spain on Tuesday.

Just in the early stages of the planning Pete. Things will change i dare say as we get more ideas.
Just mentioned Paris as it's the shortest route from Germany, again that may change.

That's the plan. Tolls from Nurburgring to Le Mans is only coming in at about 40 Euros.
