    Default considering 3.0 CDTi V6 and 2.0T...thoughts?

    I've been a satisfied Vauxhall customer for a few years now (driving a Corsa C 1.2 SXi+)
Although, the time has come that I just find the car too small (and slow) and a logical step was the Vectra. The two engines I'm considering are the 2.0T and the 3.0 CDTi. I was hoping insurance would point me in the direction of one or the other, but the cost is the same to the penny

I've always been a petrolhead, but I can't help but feel that as a young man, it would be cost-effective to buy the CDTi?
Although they seem to be about £1000 more like-for-like to purchase

So go on, tell me which you'd choose and why. I've discussed it with friends, and we have a list of pros and cons for each, but nothing definitive.
Also, I don't mind whether I go for manual or automatic, so don't worry about that!

I'll look forward to any thoughts on the subject!

    regards
    Iain

good point, but the sound of a diesel V6 over a petrol turbo 4?

Not insulting diesel, but I've heard neither, and in my experience petrols tend to sound nicer

Yeah, even though its a diesel you still get a lovely v6 rumble!
IMO i have never heard a nice sounding 4 pot, you can get a nice exhaust note from one but thats about it!

I'm probably on risky ground here but I don't really rate the V6 diesel. It's a big heavy engine, doesn't return a very diesel-like MPG and generally doesn't offer enough to justify itself over the 1.9 CDTi 150 (imo).

Just checked a few videos on Youtube, they seem to sound ok, and the 2.0T sounds ok. I imagine they both sound fairly nice mid range

I admit, for a diesel, it sounds lovely. The diesel equivalent of a small block lol

True, but the thing is, for some reason, the insurance on the 1.9 CDTi 150 is WAY more than the 3.0 and the 2.0T, and I don't fancy the 120 1.9

Also everyone I know with the 1.9 has had problems and I don't rate them too much to drive, I find the power comes in too late for what you want in a diesel. Just my personal opinion

There's a good way to help yourself decide - go for a test drive in both.
