Talking Vectra C 2.0 dti decat

Just DIYed mine.....very easy to do if u r ok getting durty.Took me about 3hr.Loved the result:smoother ride, better sound,no smoke. That is how i did it:lift the car safly(i just used two bottle jackes and stands for safety),take small grinder with thin blade(i have used a battery powerd makita with stainless steel blade) and cut a little door out (the size of on iphone)...CUT ONLY 3 sides of an opening cos u will bend the pease back up.now dend out thr peace that u have cut, using a drill or a whole cutter loosen up the stuff inside the cat,use a chissel or a big screw driver to chip bits out... It is harder in the begining but when u get about 25% chipped out the rest falls out in bigger pieces.when u took out all the stuff out start the car up and let all the small bits to blow out throw that opening that u have cut....bend the "door" back up ,send down aroun the cut,put some high temp sealant around, cut out a piece of any galvanized or zinc plated tin(i have used a pieace of ducting)DO NOT forget to cut the tin 20mm bigger than the cut u made!!!using self tapping screws fix the patch.Start up the car and let it idle untill it heats up the "decat" so sealant can harden.Next step is very importante!!!!!!!lower the car, wash up and go for a spin.....u will love it

The DTi's really do benefit from a decat. It'll take a fair few miles for the ECUs to learn the changes so they should get a little better yet. Next, get the middle box out!

The problem is that vectra c dti cat is one piece pipe from turbo to middle piece and there is no way to take cat out to bash it out!

Pipe off, long bar, smash the guts out. At least it saves cutting holes in the exhaust
