Default The LED Conversion Project is off to a small start

    Hello all

I'm embarking on a LED conversion for my 06 Vec SRi.

I bought some switches off a member here and have just started on what I reckon will be a fairly long project.

It's a small beginning but I hope to have more info very soon.

Taken the driver's door switch apart and de-soldered the 7 led's.

I did this to see if I was up to it or not. So far its easy to remove the LEDS. Hmmm wonder what it will be like to add new ones.

So I'm now off to order some new Blue LEDS. Wish me luck

Take loads of pictures and have fun.

Only tip would be dont keep the soldering iron on for too long.

Thanks lads. It scares me a bit but im eager to get away from that horrid orange.

Thanks for the tip Lee_Gsi. I will go gentle and not for too long. Infact you gave me the idea to do this in the first place from your excellent interior led how 2. http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134257

Lee would you mind confirming if these are the right ones for the door switches please.

    Many thanks

Had a day off today to go round and get a few estimates for the damage on my rear bumper.

Received my LED's from Crazyleds.co.uk today so once the estimates were done I set about soldering.

Damn these LEDS are small and cumbersome. I started on the drivers side door first and basicly killed the pcb when I slipped with the soldering iron. Lucky I have two spares then.

The second try went really well. Soldered all 7 LEDS which worked first time!, so I did the passenger side door switch also (easy that one, its only got one LED)

Im now going to attempt the Switch which houses the lights, fog lights etc. I'm having trouble removing this so im off to the How To's to get the answer.

Will post pics later when its a bit darker.

EDIT : Blue is so much nicer than that orange
