Default Those who understand the 3.0 V6 cdti

    Hi,
Well I have now got the eml working by taking dash apart and cleaning plug e.t.c
But again car coughed and spluttered tonight and went into limp mode but NO eml or spanner light !?!?!

Surely if it's scv's eml or spanner light should come on?

    Nick

Only sometimes cause if the engine plays up and it sure why it gets a light. Safest bet is to get it tested properly

No, not unless it has had the EMS update or the fuel input falls below 40%
The issue with a blocked SCV is the other remains fully working
This is also why it took the VX dealership I use some time to work out what is wrong with it, as they rely too heavily on fault codes instead of mechanical diagnostics (nearly 3 months)

How is the engine on idle?

I would suggest phoning some local garages and ask if they know of a diesel specialist familiar with the the Y30DT
It took me a while to find one

I had code read yesterday and it was P0063 - No fault found. Although looking that code is for " fuel system leak - large "

    As a question mine is a facelift 06 - is that still a Y30DT?

    Thanks
    Nick

Need to do a diagnosis by stage
As above, how is the engine on idle?

This would suggest a blocked SCV or fuel pump issue

    No, this is a Z30DT

The Z30DT is supposed to have the uprated SCV and the updated EMS
However, as above it will only put the engine into safe mode and return the engine warning light when the issue is extremely bad

Idle car is fine, no issue.

    It only happens under load

That confirms one of the two SCV is blocked
As above, start phoning around to find a mechanic familiar with the Z30DT and replacing the SCVs
If they ask what a SCV is, hang up

Equally, you seem to be the first person affected by this on the Z30DT
I would report this to Vauxhall

So therefore, what mileage and service history?
Do you have a third party warranty?
Where did you obtain the car from?

Being the first one with Z30DT is just about my luck at mo.

Would I not be better getting work done at vauxhall?

Car is 107,000 miles with ( supposed ) full service history from drive vauxhall.

Car was purchased 15 days ago from dealer in hounslow ( who I have contacted and said they need to sort it )

A quick question none related, it says on logbook that colour is grey but paint code is for mystic morning green ( a weird blue/green/grey ) would this be a keying error at registration as everything else checked out with car including finance company

    Thanks

    Nick

Is this dealer independent or VX?
Car needs to be fit for purpose
However on this mileage your limit will be 30 days
I would take it back NOW and discuss with them
Perhaps you could negotiate that they take it to a VX dealership for diagnosis and repair

You could take it to a VX dealership before doing so (a different one that they are likely to use), probably cost you £80 in diagnostic fees
Ask for a written report and quote on completion

    Now the bad news
A typical SCV replacement (entire job) costs near on £1000
However once completed it resolves the issue
As I mentioned earlier, I would escalate this to VX as the Z30DT is not supposed to suffer this as it has the uprated SCV from new

From that we move on to the service history
Is it entirely VX or just any VAT registered garage?
From the stamps could you trace these garages?
Finally, who was the previous owner and did you contact them to find out why they disposed of it?

The V5 simply states the main colour, so this will be the agreed colour for the manufacturers colour
You will find the paint code on the B pillar on the drivers door
Post the code and we will give you what VX call it
