    Default Saab 9-3

    Anyone know much about them, mainly the petrol 2.0T or the 1.8T and are the auto boxes any good?

    i had an 08 plate 1.8 turbo

    very juicy for what they are but must admit the box is very smooth

    will cruise at 90-95 all day long at low revs

    IIRC they are actually both 2.0 engines they just call the 1.8 a 1.8 for some reason. They are basically the same lump as the Z20NET in the vec and siggy. the 1.8 is 150 bhp and the 2.0t is 175 bhp same as the Vec/Siggy. They then do a 2.0T aero which is 210bhp. The engines are pretty much bullet proof. Unfortunately I dont know anything about the auto box.

    Thanks guys, was looking at the 210bhp model, sad to say the vectra may be going. The insignia is just out my price range otherwise I would stay on the scene.

    I had an 02 plate from new ( 93 SE spec with 190 bhp ). Sadly I have to say that it spent more time in the workshop then it did on my drive. What went wrong with it, well the list is long and distinguished

    Auto box went - twice
    Torque converter
    Stereo went and threw the electric out
    AC leaked all over the passenger footwell and caused carpet to smell
    AC packed up altogether
    Drivers seat broke - non electric but all adjustments packed up
    Electric aerial packed up
    Oil pump went and wrecked the top half of the engine.

    I think it was a Friday afternoon car off the production line and it put me off SAAB for life.
