    Thumbs up Spax RSX Coilovers

Anybody running these? If so can I have pics to see how it sits and what's the ride like?

Never ran the RSX coilovers, but did run the PSX springs and adjustable shocks kit on my old saloon and they were superb although a nightmare to fit lol.

Not really a good comparison of course coilovers against springs and shocks, but certainly recommend Spax based on my experience with them. Doesn't help you much I know, but better than no one commenting

I've got the Spax RSX kit on my Fiat 500 which cost around £350

I've got the KW Variant 2 INOX coilover kit on my Vectra VXR which cost around £1200

The difference in quality is huge.

The Spax kit has oxidised already after 18 months. I havent had the need to readjust it yet, but I'm not looking forward to it.

I cant really give you any more info as they are two very different cars. The Fiat 500 Spax kit is slammed on its lowest settings and the ride is... erm.... entertaining. very bumpy, but great fun

But if you want to use the coilovers regularly for readjustment, you may want to consider the quality of the kit longer term. Or just get cheap ones and replace them every couple of years as disposable.

    Also, just to add.

In my opinion coilovers are a menace and high maintenance on a heavy car.

With the weight of the Vectra it is very important to get the corner weighting setup correctly if you intend to use high speed driving (like track days etc)

Its also very important to get the car 4 wheel aligned after you've messed about with the ride height.

Its a false economy otherwise you will wear out your tyres in no time (which costs money) and potentially dangerous if you dont notice uneven wear due to camber.

Its much easier to just stick sports dampers and springs on it and walk away.

However, coilovers look ace and setup correctly are fantastic

I got fk coilovers Steven a third of the price of the spax ones, shocks are a bit soft for me at high speeds hence wanting damper adjustment

Took me three attempts to get mine how I wanted

I ended up at KW Recommended settings except the rear dampers are slightly firmer than they suggested, but it works a treat

I didnt go too low in the end because I get up to silly high speeds on the track and need the suspension travel to stop it 'skitting' on bumps (very dangerous for me). Castle Combe and Nurburgring are bumpy circuits so need the travel to save my ass if I hit a bump at high speed
