    Default Vauxhall Cavalier ignition problems..

Hope someone can help, just recently my dads had problems with his 95 cav ls, got stuck on the isle of white when something went wrong with the ignition barrel/switch. Strange thing is the key goes in, turns to 1, then to 2 with ignition lights on the dash and 3rd feels like something has jammed. Used to have a 10-15 degree turn to fire engine now it just doesnt do anything. Steering lock will come off, can be bump started but will not fire engine of the key. Could this be the switch or the barrel? Can anyone help?

Ye it turns untill fire up point but the key feels like its hit a wall, which makes me wonder if its a dodgy switch, dont want to buy both parts if its just one.

take the wiring plug plug off the back of the barrel fella and insert a screw driver into the plug and turn see if that starts it

you have to take the steering wheel cowling off and you will see the wiring plug this plug has a tiny grub screw that you have to loosen and then pull the plug off. insert a scrrew driver into the plug and turn betcha the engine starts lol
