Default Bad times, timing belt has gone . . .

I bought my 1.9 cdti last wednesday, going down the road today, all of a sudden the oil temperature guage went right up to redline, then the oil light started flashing on the dash, so I slowed down about to turn off into an estate to pull up and the car died on me on the entrance to the roundabout.

AA had to come get me, they say they can see that the timing belt isn't turning when I turn the car over, so looks like it's gone. Which means an expensive repair job to say the least!

I've only driven it for 180 odd miles!

    Bad day today for sure!!!

3 months parts and labour warranty, but I think it gets capped to £500, so going to have a fight on my hands to get the rest back out of the garage I think! Last thing I need right now but still.

I'm hoping the damage isn't too bad, there wasn't and loud bangs or crunches or anything like that, so hopefully it hasn't completely mullered everything! Wait and see what the garage says though!

    6 days mate! lmao.

Will speak to the warranty company and the garage first, see what they say and what they are prepared to do, but yeah if they refuse or get awkward then I will be seeking legal advice etc etc. Will go to them early on so that they know if the situation well in advance, so even if they do drag their feet I have already made the point etc well within the time.

Hope you get a result from the dealer. I think after only 180 miles you should be entitled to a full and free repair. If the dealer starts making excuses don't be afraid to mention the Sale Of Goods Act.

I would be banging heads at the dealers mate... it was clearly un fit for purpose at the time of sale, i got a full refund for my sister on an old motor when the head gasket failed after she go it home.
don't take no for an answer & do speak to trading standards, sold as seen means nowt from a dealer, especially as you have a warrenty... i wouldn't even go for a repair, just demand a full refund

Well the car itself is in really good nick, so I will see what the damage is and speak to my local garage, I trust the guys there so will be asking them to fix it and get the dealer to pay it up. If the damage is too bad then I will be demanding a full refund from them and I will have to look for another car again!

Will defo be speaking to Trading Standards though regarding the issue to get them on full alert as well as letting the dealer know what is going on who I bought it from. Pain in the arse though the garage I got it from is about 45 miles away or so! So if they say they have to repair it otherwise wont pay it then I will be just asking for a full refund I think, as I wouldn't trust them!

150 or 120? cause when 120 water pumps seize up and snap cambelts they just break rockers so might not be to bad

150! Lol, typically! Like I said there was no big crunch or grind or bang or anything, so if i'm lucky it hasn't done too much damage, but dunno, will have to wait and see!
