    Default aux belt tensioner

been having the early morning chirping on the siggy so have purchased a new aux belt tensioner and belt to replace the old one

looked in the invoices i have and saw that the belt was replaced when sean had the car

went to change it all today and the last people to do it have sheared the nut that you take up the tension with when you want to remove the belt !!!!!

so had a look to see what i could do and just out of the curiosity of it thought id see if i could move the belt any

so i put my hand up and pulled the belt straight off with it still under tension

the answer to why i could do this became apparant when i removed the tensioner ,

the tensioner on the v6 cdti has a small piston which is pivotted at both ends with a bush

the old pivot basically didnt have any bush left !!!!

so new tensioner on , new belt on and hopefully that will stop the chirping

only took about 25 mins to change so was welll impressed with it

also changed both tailgate bumpers to get rid of the annoying clunking from the tailgate as one bumper was broken and changed the brake fluid as well

so all in all a good morning ( even better the fact that i did it at work and got paid for it )

You know what mark, it doesn't surprise me that they sheared the bolt off. They were ****** useless! I got the belt changed for free after they kept ordering the wrong one, by that they meant they ordered the one for the 1.9!

It actually got to the point where they told me not to bring the car back for warranty work as I didn't but it from them. It was the networkq warranty.
