    Eek condenser dead

    Hello guys
Summer not so hot this year, but well.. good to have air con working just in case
And so I went to my local garage to refill air con on my 08 1,9 cdti, and been given some shocking news.. Condenser dead, apparently damaged by a stone.. New one + labor +vat = 456.50 in VX garage
Now i think that while they've been changing cambelt (under warranty) they may have damaged the condenser. got no proof but until that visit air con was working just fine? And stone in the condenser area? where did it get there from? In front of it is radiator, underneath engine cover, behind it - engine. Highly unlikely stone in there.
Anyone had a problem of this nature?
    Mike

The condensor should be covered by warranty (if the cambelt was)

Thing is that warranty expired a day or two after cambelt been replaced. An that was few weeks ago

The condensor is at the front of the radiator so a stone could easily be to blame (it was for mine). It cost me £100 for a new one, and was an easy job to replace.

I do agree, £450 seems a little steep
I suggest you get the part number for the condensor from the quote, give this to a local garage and see what quote they come back with instead
