    Default Driving on the continent

Just a quick question. I did a search but failed to find anything for my car.

The question is dipped headlight beam when driving on the continent. I know that pre 2006 models had an adjuster in the headlights for RH / LH drive alignment but I think that this was dropped for the 2006 model year to save Vx 0.05pence per unit. I drive a considerable amount on the continent and need to make sure I don't get pulled. With the previous car I just put the stickers on and drove like that all the time (had HID's).

Is there any other (cheap) solution other than going down to Halfrauds and putting some dumb stickers on the lenses that may or may not be in the right place??

Any ideas (except for fitting HID's - it's a leased car) appreciated. Thanks.

The pre facelift cars had the adjuster, but you need a mirror on a stick and 9 inch thumbs to adjust it. I just use old fashioned stickers when I go over.
    (Which I'm doing tomorrow. Whoo-hoo!)

Cheers - stickers it is, then. The car will just have to spend the next 3 years with them on.

I have just bought myself some headlight protectors to stick the stickers on, I had been told that the glue can damage the plastic if put directly on the lens especially if it is going to be for a long time!

They dont have the markings on them to tell you where the stickers go, bit with a bit of help from the garage I am sure I will work it out!

And remember that it could be illegal to drive in the UK with the continental beam stickers still on ?

No, its fine to drive in UK with stickers on, they just flatten the beam as do the adjustment levers on pre-facelift headlamps.

Its the same here in Germany. I've adjusted my headlamps to flat beam with no problems and I don't have 9 inch thumbs or a mirror on a stick 2 minute job.

You can buy headlight covers with the black 'sticker' part built into the plastic - so you just clip them on once you're over there. Added bonus of protecting your headlights from stone chips from foreign cars!

    Vx sell them BTW.

Edit: I may be talking trollox there. I was sure Vx did them for the facelift but I can't see any listed on the accessories site for any Vectra C!

Is that for a face lift model? when I told them what I was after the best the come up with was the standard head light protector and then stick my own stickers on!

That said I can't get them to fit anyways, there doesn't seem to be enough room between the bottom of the headlight and the bumper - gonna get the hammer and screwdriver out this weekend - that'll sort it!!!!
