    Default Fuel light puzzler

Quick question guys, On the Vecci C when I'm running low on fuel my Info display comes up with a picture of a petrol pump and says low fuel.

What I'm wondering - is there a symbol that lights up on the dash to tell you when your low or is it just on the info display. I'm not sure if I trust the trip comp, I know there no always accurate.

    Any advice would help.

    Cheers

you'll get a light come up on the dash aswell.

although the warning on the display used to come at exactly the same time as the one on the dash - at 31 miles left, now they're a little bit apart.

the symbol on the dash will come up and when that starts to flash you've got around 5-7 miles left. The symbol will come on permanent at around 30 miles left.

I've been down to 23 before and I've never had a symbol light up on the dash,
think I need to get this checked.

yup....sounds like it needs checking, might be something trivial.

When the range shows zero, roughly how many miles would actually be left in the tank.

Is there a reserve or should the range figure be taken as gospel.

I've have my range down to 2 miles and I though I had more than that left - if I'd only had 2 I'd have been right worried!!!!

I think I'm correct in saying...

The light on the dash goes off volume of liquid left in the tank so will come on when the physical amount of fuel reaches a set limit (although mine is sometimes slow to respond)

The Info display warning is based on your current average fuel consumption (which is taken over the last so many (15 I seem to remember but could be wrong) miles) so if you have been thrashing it like a rally driver for the past few miles it may tell you that three gallons will only get you 30 miles ... the dash light would then come on when you had say 10 miles left (would be one gallon in my example).

Hope this makes sense ... please note figures given are not exact but the manual should shed some light.

For clarity here is what the manual says about the average fuel consumption:

The range is calculated from the current
contents of the fuel tank and the average
consumption over the last 12 to 20 miles
(20 to 30 km) of the journey.
The range updates automatically after a
brief delay a fter the vehicle has been
    refuelled.
